Here are the three tips if you want to register your trademark in clothing brand.

Tip # 1: Realize that the USPTO has coordinated classes. What that means is if you want to register something in the clothing brand, USPTO will also look in class 014, which is jewelry, as well as class 018 for handbags and leather goods. And finally, 035 for retail store services.

If you're filing an application for clothing, note that the USPTO will check these other classes to see if there are similar or identical names or trademarks that's already registered in those classes.

Tip # 2: Don't go merely descriptive or merely ornamental.

In other words, the concern here is a lot of people thinking that they have their slogan or their name or their logo on top of a shirt or clothing or jacket thinks that's enough for submitting. In fact, that's probably going to receive a merely ornamental refusal. So be aware of that.

Tip # 3: Be careful of your description of your goods.

Sometimes you can be over inclusive, which is a danger because if you're not actually selling those products in commerce, that's, that's ripe, or that's a liability for cancellation from another party. If you are too nitpicky of all the different descriptions and not broad enough, then the USPTO may audit your application after registration to see whether or not you're actually still selling those products or not.

Keep your brand safe and protected.

Hi, welcome to week nine, chapter nine of Atomic Habits. This chapter is called The Role of Family and Friends in Shaping Your Habits. James Clear has a story about Laszlo Polgar. And Laszlo's theory was that talent and skill is not innate, is not born, but learned and through culture. And he wanted to prove this theory.

He married a woman who also thought the same way. And they raised three girls and, in their family, and their culture promoted, encouraged, and rewarded chess. The oldest one was amazing. The second girl was even better, and the third was hit Grandmaster level, I believe at the age of 14. So his theory proved to be correct.

James Clear's point in this chapter, he says the culture that we live in determines what is attractive to us. In Polgar's situation, chess was an attractive environment in their lives, in their family lives. And it was encouraged and rewarded. Girls loved being in that environment. They live, breathe, and enjoyed the chess culture.

And not only that, but the society also rewarded them as well. We tend to imitate the habits of three main groups. Our family, who we're close to, our society, the peers, and finally the powerful, those who have status and prestige. If you want a certain behavior, then join up a group with similar likeabits and tribe.

He gave a great example about one, one person creating a culture of fitness for nerds, Nerd Fitness, I believe it's called. People who enjoyed Star Wars or other nerdy elements, but they wanted to be more fit. This created a fitness club for them. They felt like they were part of their own tribe, their own family, but they all wanted to get fit as well.

And so they felt like they belong, and because of that, they encouraged each other. So, okay, so that was week 9, chapter 9. I'll see you next week for week 10, chapter 10.
